As well known author, Kathleen Norris, writes, "this (book) is a timely read for troubled times, showing how the values and practices established by St. Benedict in the 6th Century can help us lead happier lives."  Kathleen also notes that the author is a self-professed workaholic and she is allowing the reader to see how her life has changed for the better since she took this ancient wisdom to heart.

The book contains 22 chapters. Each chapter concludes with questions for reflection, which allows for use as a study group or an individual as well.  My DOK chapter has chosen this for a study book. I am highly recommending  this book to all of the chapters in the San Diego Diocese.

The book also contains a forward by another well known author, Joan Chittister, OSB. The afterward is written by Martin E. Marty, emeritus, The University of Chicago.
